Firefighters Recover Unidentified Man’s Body From River In Kwara
Men of the Kwara State Fire Service, on Thursday, recovered the lifeless body of an unidentified man from Osin/Laduba River in Ilorin, the state capital.
The firefighters swung into action after the officials of the State’s Ministry of Environment alerted them about a floating lifeless body on the river.
The spokesperson of the State Fire Service, Hakeem Adekunle, said his office received the information about the lifeless body in the river at about 2.42pm.
“On Thursday, 12th February 2026, at about 14:42hrs, the Kwara State Fire Service received an incident call from staff of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment, reporting that a lifeless body was found in a river along the Osin/Laduba axis, Ilorin West local government area, Kwara State.
“Firefighters promptly responded to the scene and successfully recovered the body of an unidentified male, estimated to be about 43 years of age. Following the recovery, the lifeless body was handed over to officials of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment for necessary procedures.
“Health workers on site subsequently fumigated the recovered body and the surrounding area to ensure public health and environmental safety.
“The director of the Kwara State Fire Service, CFS Alabi Muhammed, urged members of the public to avoid unsafe activities around water bodies and to promptly report any suspicious or emergency situations to relevant authorities to enable timely response. He also emphasised inter-agency collaboration in safeguarding lives and public safety,” Adekunle said.
