Scope and Impact

  • The Deputy Manager, Strategy & Consumer Insight, is responsible for supporting the development and execution of data-driven marketing strategies through deep consumer understanding, market intelligence, and competitive analysis.
  • The role ensures that business and marketing decisions are informed by robust insights, helping the organization remain customer-focused, competitive, and growth-oriented.

Job Summary

  • The Deputy Manager, Strategy & Consumer Insight is responsible for supporting the development and execution of business strategies through data-driven decision-making.
  • This role involves conducting market research, competitive analysis, customer behavior studies, and providing strategic insights to inform marketing, sales, product development, and overall business planning.
  • The ideal candidate will work closely with senior management to align insights with organizational goals and translate them into actionable initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Market Intelligence:

  • Support the development of annual and quarterly marketing strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Conduct market, industry, and competitor research to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Provide strategic input for go-to-market plans, product launches, brand positioning, and media campaigns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate insights into actionable business and marketing strategies.

Consumer & Audience Insight:

  • Design and lead qualitative and quantitative research to understand customer needs, preferences, behavior, and satisfaction.
  • Manage customer segmentation and persona development to guide content, messaging, and campaign targeting.
  • Use consumer insight to drive innovation in product development, communication, and experience design.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Leverage analytics tools (Google Analytics, Power BI, Tableau, etc.) to assess campaign performance, customer engagement, and sales impact.
  • Generate dashboards, insight reports, and presentations to inform leadership decision-making.
  • Conduct A/B testing and effectiveness analysis to optimize marketing efforts.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Partner with product and sales teams to align strategies and enhance marketing effectiveness.
  • Work closely with agencies, research partners, and consultants on projects and evaluations.

Project & Team Leadership:

  • Lead strategic initiatives and cross-functional insight projects from planning to execution.
  • Mentor junior analysts or interns, and contribute to building internal insight capabilities.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Insight-driven recommendations implemented by marketing/product teams.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of market intelligence reports.
  • Measurable impact of strategies on brand equity, customer acquisition/retention, or campaign ROI.
  • Internal satisfaction ratings from cross-functional stakeholders.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, Psychology, or related fields.
  • Master’s Degree or MBA (preferred).
  • 5+ years of experience in strategy, consumer insights, market research, or business analysis (ideally within a marketing or communications function).
  • Experience in media, financial services, FMCG, retail, or tech industries is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SEC and regulatory guidelines relating to investment promotions.
  • Strong understanding of financial products and investment terminology.

Job Knowledge:

  • Strategic Planning Processes: Strong understanding of corporate and marketing strategy development methodologies.
  • Market Research Techniques: Proficient in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including surveys, focus groups, in-depth interviews, and observational studies.
  • Data Interpretation & Analysis: Ability to extract insights from data using tools like SPSS, Excel, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Consumer Behavior: Deep knowledge of behavioral psychology, market segmentation, and consumer journey mapping.
  • Industry & Market Trends: Up-to-date on trends, competitors, and emerging technologies relevant to the business.
  • Report Writing & Presentation: Skilled in crafting insight-driven reports and visual presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Familiar with working alongside product, marketing, sales, and finance teams tointegrate insights intodecision-making.

Skills / Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Deep understanding of consumer research methodologies (qualitative & quantitative).
  • Proficiency in tools such as Excel, SPSS, SQL, Google Analytics, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Business acumen and strategic mindset.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills.

Salary
N550,000 – N600,000 / Month.
