How Branded Notebook Printing Is Becoming A Profitable Venture
Educational materials vary in size and quality depending on their purpose. With academic sessions running in seasonal cycles, printing branded notebooks and other school materials presents a consistent business opportunity for printers and entrepreneurs.
Every academic year opens a fresh window for business-savvy individuals to tap into the demand for educational materials. As long as schools continue to enroll students year after year, the printing of notebooks, exercise books, and higher education materials remains a viable and profitable venture.
A printer in the business, Ebunoluwa Aduloju, noted that versatility is key to success in the printing industry, especially when dealing with branded notebooks and other educational materials. According to him, identifying and building relationships with schools particularly new ones is essential. Sustaining long-term partnerships with educational institutions ensures steady patronage.
Aduloju explained that printing costs vary depending on factors such as paper weight, binding type (spiral or stapled), and quantity. In Nigeria, branded school notebooks typically cost between N675 and N2,500 per unit, depending on the specifications.
Higher volumes usually reduce the per-unit cost, while premium customised hardcover notebooks range between N2,500 and N7,500 per unit.
He further stated that printing 100 copies of 60-leaf exercise books starts from N54,000, with delivery possible within three to four working days in Lagos. Products can be supplied directly to schools based on orders or distributed through bookshops.
Personalized journals also present another revenue stream, selling between N6,200 and N7,500 per unit, depending on quantity.
According to him, servicing more than five schools consistently can significantly increase revenue and ensure business sustainability.
Marketing plays a critical role in growing a printing business. Entrepreneurs are advised to promote their services both offline and online.
Building a recognizable brand identity and leveraging social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok can help attract clients. Podcasts and other digital engagement tools also offer additional visibility and credibility.
Running a printing business in Nigeria offers strong potential due to high demand for branded and educational materials.
However, operators must navigate infrastructure challenges such as unstable power supply, rising production costs, and stiff market competition.
Despite these hurdles, the sector remains promising for entrepreneurs who combine quality production, strategic marketing, and strong client relationships.
