Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has sparked fresh conversation online after opening up about receiving a car as a gift despite being married
During an appearance on Naija FM 102.7, the veteran film star pushed back against suggestions that women are not at the forefront of Nollywood. She maintained that the industry is largely powered by women who go beyond acting to build brands and businesses.

“Women are the ones who hold Nollywood,” she said, noting that many actresses double as producers, entrepreneurs, influencers, and even professionals with full-time careers outside film. According to her, the idea that women are sidelined in the industry does not reflect reality.
The conversation took a more personal turn when she addressed the topic of admirers and gifts. “Women have admirers,” she said. “Me, who is married, I know how many people have gifted me things, women and men. They’ll just see me and say, ‘Omotola, I’m sending you this.’ They’ve gifted me a car before.”
Asked whether she returned the vehicle because of her marital status, she replied, “No, why would I return the car?”
She attributed the ease of handling such situations to her husband’s self-assurance, describing him as “the most secure human being you can ever meet.” She added playfully, “Think about it, how would you marry an Omosexy if you’re not secure?”
