NYCN Commends Tinubu, Wike Over Infrastructure Transformation in FCT
The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for what it described as unprecedented infrastructural transformation across the nation’s capital.
The commendation followed a three-day comprehensive inspection tour of key infrastructure projects executed across the six Area Councils of the FCT , Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Bwari Area Council, Gwagwalada Area Council, Kuje Area Council, Abaji Area Council, and Kwali Area Council.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the tour in Abuja by its President, Comrade Babangida Isah, the Council said the inspection was undertaken to independently assess the scope, quality, spread, and impact of infrastructure projects executed within the last one year.
According to the NYCN, the tour revealed a balanced and inclusive infrastructure strategy that extends beyond the Abuja city centre to satellite towns and rural communities across all six Area Councils.
The Council expressed profound gratitude to President Tinubu for what it described as foresight and political courage in appointing Wike as FCT Minister, noting that the appointment has translated into visible governance outcomes.
In AMAC, the Council inspected the construction and rehabilitation of major arterial and district roads linking Wuye, Mabushi, Jahi, Garki, and the Central Area, as well as ongoing works on the Inner and Outer Southern Expressways and their connecting service roads.
It also reviewed streetlight rehabilitation and solar lighting projects, alongside engineering infrastructure works, including drainage and sewer systems.
In Bwari Area Council, the team assessed township and rural access road projects, upgrades to public schools, and improvements in connectivity to surrounding communities.
Across Gwagwalada, Kuje, Abaji, and Kwali Area Councils, the NYCN inspected road construction and rehabilitation projects, feeder and access roads, drainage and erosion-control initiatives, urban-renewal efforts, rural-road expansions, and upgrades to schools and other public infrastructure aimed at enhancing economic activity and rural development.
The Council noted that the quality of execution, speed of delivery, and geographical spread of the projects reflect strong leadership, effective supervision, and prudent resource management by the FCT Minister.
Consequently, the NYCN commended Wike for what it described as exceptional performance and a hands-on leadership style that has restored public confidence in government-led development efforts.
In recognition of these achievements, the Council formally declared Wike the “Best Performing Minister” in the current administration and resolved to present him with a Certificate of Commendation for outstanding service.
The youth body also appealed to President Tinubu to grant the Minister greater access to funds and institutional support to consolidate ongoing projects and expand infrastructure delivery across the FCT, expressing confidence that additional resources would accelerate development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The NYCN reaffirmed its commitment to supporting accountable leadership, promoting excellence in governance, and amplifying development initiatives that positively impact Nigerian youths and communities, stating that the transformation witnessed across the FCT demonstrates that effective leadership yields tangible results.
