Peter Mbah is now a confirmed member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He was elected as the Governor of Enugu State in 2023 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, he officially defected from the PDP to the APC on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.

His defection, along with many members of his cabinet and other political figures in the state, was stated to be a move to align Enugu State with the ruling party at the Federal level (“connecting Enugu to the centre”) for greater development and progress.
