Workforce Planning and Forecasting

Forecasting is the quantitative heart of workforce planning.It’s the step where you move from analyzing the present to predicting the future. 

Workforce forecasting uses historical data, statistical models, and business driver analysis (e.g., “if sales increase by 10%, we will need 5 more sales reps”) to estimate future talent demand. 

This includes forecasting headcount, skills, and costs. The accuracy of your forecast directly impacts the effectiveness of your entire plan. 

While it’s impossible to predict perfectly, using data-driven techniques significantly improves upon guesswork and allows for more confident strategic decision-making.
